Local know-how
Fencing a Panama City lot.
Single-family houses are most of the housing here, and pine privacy fence or white vinyl suits a backyard.
Pool yards need a barrier at least 4 feet high with self-closing, self-latching gates under Florida law.
Chain link covers the most footage, but some Panama City districts do not allow it along a public street.
A fence beside a street should have its finished side facing out, and a front-yard fence tops out at 4 feet.
Tell us where the lot sits and what the fence is for, and call to book a time for the drive down.
Fence rules in Panama City.
The city’s Unified Land Development Code, Sec. 110-4(D), caps a residential front-yard fence at 4 feet and side and rear fences at 8 feet.
We found no fence-permit clause there, so check with City Hall or Development Services, and your HOA or deed, before you build.
City of Panama City
“No fences or hedges shall exceed four feet in height from aggregate grade when placed in the front yard of residential land use districts or on property used for residential purposes. A fence located in the side and rear yard setbacks shall not exceed eight feet in height from aggregate grade.”
Unified Land Development Code, Sec. 110-4(D)(1). Read the source.
Panama City street frontage
“Any fence located adjacent to a public right-of-way or private road shall be placed with the finished side facing that right-of-way.”
Unified Land Development Code, Sec. 110-4(D)(3). Read the source.
Florida pool barriers
“The barrier must be at least 4 feet high on the outside. Gates that provide access to swimming pools must open outward away from the pool and be self-closing and equipped with a self-latching locking device.”
Florida Statutes 515.29(1)(a) and (3). Read the source.
Rules change. Check with the building office and your HOA before you build. This is a summary, not legal advice.

“Easy to work with and fair priced. Kadin and his crew did an awesome job on over 500’ of privacy fence for me.”
