Privacy Fences around Cottondale.

A privacy fence closes in the yard so you can sit out, cook out and let the dogs run without an audience.

Six feet is the usual backyard privacy height, and the limit for your lot is set by your city or county.

Wood is the classic choice, in stockade or board-on-board, and white vinyl is the low-upkeep one.

Chain link with privacy slats woven in is a lower-cost way to get cover on a long run.

Posts go in first on a pulled string line, then rails, boards or panels, and the gates go in last.

A privacy fence also hides a pool backyard, a dog yard or a view of the road.

Southern Line Fence & Finish builds privacy fences out of Cottondale, across Jackson County and nearby towns.

One Google review mentions over 500 feet of privacy fence.

What the job includes

From the first stake to the last latch.

  1. A look at the yard

Tell us what you want hidden, where the fence runs and how many gates it needs.

  2. A clear quote

You get a quote for the footage, the height, the material and the gates before a day is set.

  3. Posts on the line

Corners are staked and a string line is pulled tight, so every post lines up with the next.

  4. Solid cover

Wood boards, vinyl panels or chain link slats go up to close off the view you want closed.

  5. Gates that latch

Walk gates and drive gates are hung so they swing clear and the latch lines up.

  6. Cleanup and a walk

Scraps are picked up, and you walk the finished fence before we leave.

Know the options

Before you pick the cover.

Privacy comes three ways here, and each one trades looks against upkeep.

Wood and vinyl make a solid wall, and a solid wall catches wind like a sail in storm season.

Chain link with slats lets some air through and still blocks most of the view.

Tell us what you want hidden and we will tell you straight which one fits.

Wood
Stockade or board-on-board. A warm look that needs a stain or seal as it ages.
White vinyl
Solid panels that never need paint. A hose clears off the dirt.
Chain link and slats
Slats woven into the mesh. A lighter look, and some air still moves through.

Worth knowingAsk your city or county, and your HOA if you have one, about height and property-line rules before you order a six-foot fence.

Questions

About privacy fences.

How tall is a privacy fence?

Six feet is the usual backyard privacy height.

Your city or county sets the limit for your lot, and so does your HOA if you have one, so check both before you order.

Wood or vinyl for a privacy fence?

Wood has the classic look and takes stain, but it needs a seal or stain as it ages.

White vinyl never needs paint and rinses clean with a hose. Tell us how much upkeep you want.

Can chain link give me privacy?

Yes. Privacy slats are woven into the chain link to block the view.

It is a lower-cost way to get cover on a long run, and black vinyl-coated mesh blends into the yard.

Does a pool change the fence I need?

Florida’s pool barrier rules (F.S. 515.29) call for at least 4 feet and a self-closing, self-latching gate.

Tell us the pool is part of the job and we will talk through the gate before the quote.
